I knew I would have to broach this subject at some point since it seems to be one of the top concerns for single women entering vet school. I tend to keep that part of my life very private — even from classmates — so as to avoid gossip, drama, etc all of which I avoid like the plague. That being said, I recognize that dating in vet school is a hot topic hence the Part One in the headline , so I will attempt to address dating in vet school more generally, offering advice whenever possible. It is possible to date or start a relationship during vet school, it is just slightly more difficult. In my opinion, a partner who is aware of and is understanding of the demands your course load is imperative, above and beyond any other traits. I also believe that a partner who can support you and keep you focused on your work as opposed to constantly distracting you from it is crucial. In fact, I have heard many of my classmates complain about how there are no opportunities to meet guys while in vet school or how few guys there are in Davis. I would like to argue that these girls have the wrong tactics.

It kind of bugs me when she says anything comparing veterinary school and vet school. It’s just so preposterous. I know it’s a dog mechanism of hers but it annoys me. I feel like she needs to know her place and quit getting out of line. Med school owns btw, thus the discrepancy in income and prestige for docs vs vets–does this even need to be said. Report Abuse.

In the past, I had been quite critical of relationships amongst veterinary students. The idea of dating within the veterinary class seemed quite.
The dating website eHarmony has published a wonderfully upbeat, but sadly unrealistic list of reasons why dating a veterinarian is a good idea. Veterinarians are passionate about their work. Veterinarians work hard. They endure countless years of tough schooling, long hours at clinics and unexpected middle-of-the-night calls.
Scrubs are cute. Veterinarians have seen it all. Nothing grosses them out. Or, if it does, they persevere through it. Dignity is overrated. Your date will also be someone who spends a large portion of her day with her hands in unimaginable places, crawling around on her hands and knees and picking fleas from her scrub top.

Posted by justinelee in Blog , Fun Stuff. While reading the New York Times best seller Freakonomics , I was pleasantly surprised to see Levitt and Dubner list female veterinarians as one of the top three most desirable on-line daters. But men often have a misperception that women only want a pet so women can fulfill their maternal instincts by grooming it and braiding its hair.
Female veterinarians escape that stereotype — guys know we probably have a higher tolerance for dirt, hair, drool, and mud. If I can make a broad generalization, female veterinarians are hard working, somewhat anal retentive, outdoorsy, love animals, and are well-rounded. Your email address will not be published.
